Andy Sharkey
I have been a PADI dive Instructor for 9 years, I have taught hundreds of people to dive safely over the years, some of whom have themselves gone on to become PADI Instructors and set up their own Dive schools…
Mr Phill Pain – Diving Unlimited in Bexleyheath, Kent, UK
Mrs Debbie Bennett – Scuba Skooling also in Bexleyheath, Kent, UK
Debbie & Edwin Bennett have also gone on to open a branch of the well known dive shop chain of Mikes Waterfront Warehouse – Bexleyheath Branch
I ran my own small dive school – Sharkeys Scuba School in London for a number of years
I taught members of The Riverside Racquet Centre in Chiswick & Northwood and also at the exclusive Chelsea Harbour Club
I have worked for a leading Red Sea Live aboard company for 2 years, from where I have made many friends and contacts with Dive centres and Dive tour operators worldwide
I have organised dive trips for my students and divers on my mailing list throughout the years to many destinations including the Egyptian Red Sea, The Maldives, The Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Curacao & of course The Galapagos Islands
The first of my Galapagos islands dive trips was in 1997 and unfortunately coincided with one of the strongest EL Niño’s in recent history, but still I was impressed and decided to go back again. In 1999 I organised 2 more Galapagos islands dive trips and witnessed the full amazing experience that is the Galapagos Islands… there were so many Hammerheads at Darwin Island it did not seem possible that they could be there on the next dive… but dive after dive they were there… Hammerhead sharks every where you looked. On this trip the owner of Mikes Waterfront Warehouse – Mike Calder & his wife Anne were to see their first Whaleshark in over 25 years of diving… from then on I was hooked! the Galapagos islands is indeed a place of wonder and is certainly a trip of a lifetime.
On these first trips I just took the regular Galapagos Islands dive Itinerary which is great if you have not been before, but afterwards I would look at the places we had been to and with hindsight decided it would be better to miss out a few of the dive sites and stay longer at the better dive sites i.e. ‘Wolf and Darwin Islands’ So that is how I organise my trips now – I choose the itinerary myself so we can spend the maximum time at the top dive sites with the Whalesharks & Hammerheads while still making sure that all the best places are visited within the time we have available
My next Galapagos islands dive trip was in 2001 when I was joined by my good friends Grant Searanke & Sonia Goggel who are both well known dive guides working in the Red Sea on the Live aboard dive boat M/Y Royal Emperor, if you have been to the Red Sea you may well know them. They dive every day for a living and they thought the Galapagos islands was outstanding. Except for the first trip Whalesharks have been seen on every single trip...
This year 2003 I have 2 Galapagos islands dive trips again and they are both full and have been so for some time…
All these trips have filled up by repeat customers and word of mouth recommendations!
Now I have published this Galapagos Islands website and made some future bookings on Mistral and am hoping that you will decide to join me...
